As written in the Guestbook of Thomas and Alex, the owner of the Lemon Tree Cafe, who gave me a beautiful yellow Lemon Trea t-shirt after reading it:

Once upon a time there was a small town which was named after a guy who lost a golden rock in the creek one day. And then the Germans came! There were two of them, a boy and a girl. Right in the middle of the little town they planted a tree. A small Yellow tree. They took good care of them. They gave it water, coffee and some delicious meals. The tree grew fast. And became much bigger than the German couple had planned it to be. Everyday more people came and sat under the tree. The enjoyed the shade and the friends of the German duo. These friends all wore a yellow t-shirt and they gave everyone water, coffee and some delicious meals. Two small Germans were born and all in all life around the big yellow tree was busy, sometimes hectic, a lot of fun and filled with a lot of love.
Every year new friends of the German foursome helped to give all the people under the tree their water, coffee and some delicious meals. They came from everywhere. Even all the way from Italy!
On the sunny afternoon that I arrived I was delighted by the tree, the people around and the friends in yellow. Two days later it was I that got to wear a yellow t-shirt! And I liked it so much that I stayed way longer than I’d planned. All the friends in yellow had a lot of fun. With the German foursome, on the beach, during Christmas, while watching movies, going on long walks, climbing waterfalls, or just enjoying a few drinks and conversations.
When it was time to go, I felt both happy and sad. Happy to go and see more of the surrounding world, happy with the new friends I’d made. But also sad. Sad because I was not wearing a yellow t-shirt anymore. Sad to say goodbye th the yellow tree and all of his care-takers. But it’s a good kind of sad. It’s the kind of sad that can make you smile, filled with loving memories.
Thank you Thomas, Alex, Gregor, Aurelie, Max, Robert, Chris, Natalie and Mareen for a wonderful, loving time. I hope to see you all again one day. Let’s keep in touch and maybe one day we’ll have water, coffee and some delicious meals somewhere. With or without a yellow shirt!
